A Message from the Board
Thank you for your support of Karma throughout this challenging 13 months. The latest news regarding COVID-19 is not encouraging, and we appreciate your adherence to the measures we have put in place to ensure the safety of staff, members, visitors, and suppliers.
After careful consideration, we have decided to continue to suspend member labour in the store, with the exception of set up and closing, and working members will not be charged member hours in April. We will assess the situation again at the beginning of May. We still need members to sign up for set up and closing shifts and those who fulfill those shifts will have their hours banked.
Please limit your trips to the store to a maximum of once per week and designate one person per household to do the shopping. With our maximum of 6 shoppers at one time it is important that we shop as efficiently as possible, limiting socializing to the parking lot – two meters apart, of course! Masks and hand sanitizing continue to be required.
As the weather improves, we will bring back the washing station outside the main entrance. We will get it up and running when the temperature stays consistently warm.
In other news, the board has approved, in consultation with staff, a revised Code of Conduct, linked here: https://karmacoop.org/code-of-conduct/. Please have a look at it, and if you have any questions, you can write to Andrea at email@example.com.
I am also pleased to say that the Building Committee has begun the process of preparing for much needed repairs to the store’s north wall. Thank you to everyone who contributed to the donation appeal to assist with that expenditure. If you’d like to chip in, you can do so at the cash register or through the website. We also have a fund that goes directly to the staff as an appreciation of their perseverance during this stressful time. All contributions are welcome at the cash.
On behalf of the Karma Board of Directors
