April Break Baking for Kids!

by Rosalind Ashe

Karma-member and baker extraordinaire, Inayat Singh, hosted December 2020’s highly popular Holiday Baking Webinar. She’s back! A home baker and avid cookbook collector, Inayat has taken numerous courses on baking as part of her travels and formal baking classes. On the weekends, she spends time in the kitchen, working on her passion for pastry…and other delicious offerings that are part of her side-hustle: Prickly Pear Bakehouse.

Prickly Pear Bakehouse will be hosting a FREE virtual event. Introduce a child (or three) to the magic of baking. Fruit Pie (or crostata) is on the menu. It’s open to both Karma members and those who are curious about Karma. Mark your calendars for Saturday, April 17 from 11 to 12, EST. Please send an email to cookwithkarma@karmacoop.org to register. Your personalized event link and recipe details will be emailed to you closer to the date.

Let Inayat’s enthusiasm and expert tips transport you to Italy – the home of the ‘crostata’. Essentially, it’s a rustic, free-form version of an open fruit pie. No special equipment needed. Vegan options. Follow a simple recipe featuring ingredients that can be found at Karma Co-op. Remember your bulk containers!

Although this is a FREE event, we’re asking participants to consider making a small donation to a local food bank to help our neighbours at this time. We’re so inspired by the grassroots community fridge/food box initiatives. Every little bit helps.

Please spread the word and be sure to check out Prickly Pear Bakehouse.
